Hornet was developed for drivers who need distance, focus, and reliability once the pavement ends. Instead of chasing numbers on paper, the goal was simple: build a spot beam light that performs properly in real off-road conditions — high speed trails, rough terrain, dust, rain, vibration, and long nights in the middle of nowhere.

P8 + KW2016 dual LED light source layout, keeps both long-distance visibility and wide road coverage clear

Every Hornet uses a combination of P8 and KW2016 LEDs. P8 LEDs provide the raw lumen output, while KW2016 LEDs are responsible for pushing beam reach further into the distance. This combination wasn’t chosen randomly — dozens of LED layouts and combinations were tested before arriving at the final setup.

The result is a focused beam with strong center intensity and usable long-range visibility instead of excessive foreground flood.

All three sizes share the same beam character:

  • Hornet 5 — 14 LEDs
  • Hornet 7 — 24 LEDs
  • Hornet 9 — 36 LEDs

The beam shape stays consistent across the lineup, while output and reach increase with size.

Chrome-plated reflector with precision forming process, improves beam focus and light utilization in low-light conditions

Hornet features chrome-plated reflectors with up to 85% reflective efficiency. The precision-formed reflector surface maximizes forward light output, reducing unwanted scatter and improving beam control.

The reflector geometry keeps the beam focused while maintaining balanced peripheral visibility for confident trail driving.

ADC12 die-cast aluminum housing with matte black powder coat finish, built for long-term use on rough roads and bad weather

Hornet uses a die-cast aluminum housing with a matte black finish for durability and corrosion resistance. Deep cooling fins help manage heat during long periods of high-output use, while the oversized die-cast aluminum brackets are built to handle high-speed vibration and repeated impacts without flexing or rusting.

M2 threaded mounting point integrated into rear housing, supports stable multi-point installation

An additional threaded mounting point is integrated into the rear housing, allowing users to create multi-point mounting setups for extra stability in demanding conditions. This becomes especially useful on roof racks, rally builds, and long-travel off-road vehicles where vibration control matters.

Tool-free bezel locking structure with manual release mechanism, quick change without tools in seconds

Hornet features fully removable bezels that can be swapped in seconds without tools. Simply pull from the lower section near the logo area, and the bezel releases by hand. Reinstalling takes only a few seconds and locks securely back into place.

The setup has already been tested extensively in real off-road environments, including high vibration driving and rough terrain use, without loosening or detachment issues.

Four-mode DRL function with multifunction switch control, changes lighting identity without effort during daytime driving

Hornet includes four white DRL modes:

  • One static mode
  • Three sequential patterns

All DRL modes can be changed directly from the included switch. Users can also enable automatic cycling between the three sequential patterns with a single command.

IP68/IP69K fully sealed structure, stays reliable through rain, mud, dust and harsh environments

Every Hornet light is rated IP68/IP69K for water and dust resistance. From deep mud and heavy rain to high-pressure washing and fine desert dust, Hornet is built to keep performing in harsh off-road environments without compromise.

The hardened high-transparency PC lens is also tested for long-term UV exposure, helping maintain optical clarity and durability after years of outdoor use.

We've added a wealth of customization features to the Hornet series, including four DRL styles (and a party mode that automatically cycles between the four styles), and four brightness options, all of which can be switched using the included Switch.

With over a decade of experience in lighting manufacturing, we've produced for numerous globally renowned brands. Therefore, we know how to make the right products, and we proudly offer a three-year limited warranty on all our pods.

Those are additional mounting points. Although the included bracket provides a sufficiently secure installation in most cases, you can use extra screws to ensure these lights remain stable even in extreme off-road conditions.

As a general guide, we recommend 7–9" pods near the front bumper for maximum forward illumination. Mounting larger lights lower on the vehicle can also help reduce unwanted glare.

3–5" pods work well on A-pillars, either aimed forward for more balanced coverage or angled outward to illuminate the sides of the trail and ditches.

Smaller flood lights, typically 3" and below, are ideal for side lighting around camp, rock lights, or rear-facing backup and work lights.

The best setup ultimately depends on your vehicle, mounting position, and how you use it.

In many cases, yes.

On a conventional multi-function light, each function is typically controlled by a separate positive wire. For example, a 4-pin light with a main beam, amber DRL, and white DRL may use three pins for those individual functions and one pin for ground. This can allow each function to be connected to a separate channel on a compatible switch panel.

However, some of our more advanced lights, such as the Hornet Series, use an integrated control module to manage multiple functions. Bypassing the supplied wiring harness and connecting these lights directly to a switch panel may cause certain functions to operate incorrectly.

For these products, we recommend using the supplied control system. If you still want an additional master switch, you may be able to control the main power supply through your switch panel instead.

If you're unsure whether a specific HIMA light can be connected directly to your switch panel, contact us before installation and we'll help you check.

For most installations—such as bumpers, roof racks, and existing mounting points—you usually won't need to make major modifications. The light can typically be installed using a secure mounting point on your vehicle together with the supplied bracket.

Some locations may benefit from a vehicle-specific mount. For example, if you're installing lights on the A-pillar of a Jeep Wrangler, we recommend using a dedicated A-pillar bracket for a cleaner and more secure installation.

Wiring requirements depend on your vehicle and where you mount the light. If the switch wiring needs to pass through the firewall, some vehicles may require a small opening to be made in an existing rubber firewall grommet.

Yes. HIMA lights are designed for demanding outdoor environments and are tested to meet IP68/IP69K dust- and water-resistance standards.

They are suitable for use in rain, snow, mud, dust, and other typical off-road conditions.

The easiest way is to compare the real-world beam shots on each product page. They show how each light actually distributes light on the road or trail.

If you prefer to compare specifications, look at the 1 Lux @ Distance figure. A greater distance generally indicates stronger long-range performance.

For wider illumination, pay more attention to the beam pattern and horizontal coverage shown in our beam shots rather than distance alone.
